DDos attacks
For nearly 2 months this year, some of my websites were subject to a DDos attack. They achieved this by flooding the VPS with botnets. Since the maximum number of concurrent connections allowed at a time was 25, legitimate users could not access the websites.
Not much bandwidth was used and I could FTP to the server as usual. As soon as I purchased hosting elsewhere, the DDOS attacks suddenly stopped.
